In the direction of Jaša Jamnik, The King of Betajnova speaks out without specific directional interventions and especially without any kind of (violent) topicalisation or tendencies. It speaks - despite the considerable shortening of the text - by means of the more clearly delineated relationships between the protagonists. The result is a homogenous performance, with disciplined acting yet intense without any dangerous slides into pathos or emotional overflow. (...) A rational, ascetic and well-made performance.
