Ivan CankarThe King of Betajnova
Three Acts PlayPremiere 09. June 2005
"The one who reproaches me with cruelty is himself too feeble to be cruel."
This performance doesn't have any called terms at the moment.
In the direction of Jaša Jamnik, The King of Betajnova speaks out without specific directional interventions and especially without any kind of (violent) topicalisation or tendencies. It speaks - despite the considerable shortening of the text - by means of the more clearly delineated relationships between the protagonists. The result is a homogenous performance, with disciplined acting yet intense without any dangerous slides into pathos or emotional overflow. (...) A rational, ascetic and well-made performance.
