Animal Newsis aimed at younger audiences (the first three years of primary school). The performance puts onstage the heroes and stories created by the writer Primož Suhodolčan as a series of short stories for the youngest readers; he wrote four full books of them. Primož Suhodolčan, a very popular contemporary author for children and young adults, received a number of awards for his work, including several consecutive awards Moja najljubša knjiga (My Favourite Book, for the works Košarkarnajbo! and Pozor, pravljice!)  is known among readers particularly for his vivacious humour and action comedy, which he uses to tell his stories.

The performance stages five of his short “action comedies”: Boredom Infects Flies; No Grass, Cows Go Mad; War for Grass; Duck Falls from the Sky Again and Nice to be a Parrot. All the mentioned episodes have the same main hero, a likeable, sometimes clumsy, but always original boy named Primož, who together with unusual animal heroes continues to get entangled in exciting, unpredictable and entertaining situations. The performance is filled with situation comedy and lively characters who, in addition to a heap of fun, provide an educational point or two.

The adaptation was prepared by the director Ajda Valcl, who has successfully created several performances for children and young adults, the latest one being Emil and the Detectives (Ljubljana Puppet Theatre), which in 2015 won the Best Performance Award at Pika’s Festival in Velenje and at the Golden Stick Festival in Ljubljana.
