Guest performance by the Csiky Gergely Hungarian National Theatre from Timișoara, Romania
The play 1978, created at the Hungarian theatre in Timișoara, is about Romania in the 1970s; it is a transgenerational documentary fiction based on the personal stories of the actors and director. It is a story about the communist times, which begins in a Romanian apartment and is connected to numerous local and global events that connect the regions of Timișoara and Nova Gorica, once part of the cimmon Austro-Hungarian Empire. More than a hundred years ago, tens of thousands of Hungarian soldiers fought on the Soča Front.
1978, the seventh of twelve theater projects of the Dodecalogy 1972–1983 directed by Tomi Janežič, which, as as part of the European Capital of Culture 2025 Nova Gorica – Gorizia, includes theaters from several countries.
