Aida Unleashed / Aïda déchaînée

This new European co-production frees the legendary Aida, the masterpiece by Giuseppe Verdi, from the monumental burden of choruses and triumphal marches in order to focus on the human story of its characters, revealing their most intimate and emotional nature. At the heart of the opera lies a blazing love triangle: Amneris, a woman of power driven by fierce desire and devastating jealousy; Aida, the foreign slave torn between love and loyalty to her lost homeland; and Radamès, a hero divided between patriotism and the passion that binds him to someone he should regard as part of the enemy camp.

And above these already harrowing emotions stands a unique and powerful character, the Man of Shadow, who merges the opposing figures of Ramfis and Amonasro — embodying on one side the religion of the state, and on the other royal and paternal authority. An omnipresent, mysterious silhouette pulling the strings of a destiny already sealed.

This liberated Aida, so deeply human and vibrant, ultimately replaces Verdi’s traditional Egypt with a setting as original as its modern “orchestral” reinterpretation: an invitation to rediscover the music of the great Italian Master, preserving in full its principal sung passages while creating an original encounter with today’s musical aesthetics, thanks to the contribution of the talented young composer Solère.
