Shadow of your dog

Shadow of Your Dog is one of the cult productions in the genre of musical theatre and has enjoyed great success in Slovenia since its premiere. The songs of Jacques Brel, translated into Slovenian, together with excerpts from his interviews that form the basis of the performance, have been skillfully and sensitively adapted to the Slovenian cultural context and brought close to the audience. Through a rich musical experience, the songs captivate listeners with their emotional power, as evidenced by audiences who are often reluctant to let the outstanding musicians leave the stage after the performance.

The production’s album was nominated for Album of the Year, while Branko Završan received the Župančič Award for the performance and was nominated for the Prešeren Fund Award. In 2018, marking the 40th anniversary of the death of the legendary Belgian chansonnier Jacques Brel, the production was presented in an expanded version featuring additional Slovenian adaptations of Brel’s chansons at the concert Brel 40.
